Drie Japanse tasting notes …

Hallo,

N: nice oak, vanilla, honey, banana, lovely nose, seems like an old Speysider, not the typical Jap character.
M: rather smooth, creamy, very well balanced, oaky, vanilla, honey, banana.
F: finish is long, nice, and really complex … great stuff.
B: one of the better Japanese whiskies I tasted so far.

Verdict: 90/100.

Suntory Yamazaki 18yo (43%, OB ca. 2009)
N: slightly sulphur, some slight nuttiness, boiled egg, fruity, slightly marshmellowy.
M: MUCH nicer than on the nose, very fruity, a candy shop.
F: very nice and fruity, always getting more delicate.
B: this was a weird one … I started my score at 82, than continued tasting … ;-) .
Verdict: 87/100.

Suntory Yamazaki ‘NAS’ ‘Sherry Cask’ (48%, OB ca. 2010)
N: VERY heavy sherry, VERY heavy sherry, red fruit, some bitterness.
M: spicy and dry, VERY heavy sherry, sweet fruity, red fruit.
F: getting a BIT bitter, remains sweet and fruity.
B: not a true bomb, but still a nice drinking whisky …

Verdict: 86/100.

Stay tuned for more …

Gr.,
B. !!!
